United States
The United States implemented the Hague Convention on Intercountry Adoption on April 1, 2008. That treaty requires all reasonable efforts to be made to find a family within a child's own country before he/she may be considered for intercountry adoption. It is not known if it will be possible to adopt from the USA in the future. This may become clear within the next few months as we see how the US authorities interpret and apply their new regualtions. | Posted on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 (Archive on Monday, January 01, 0001) Posted by hope Contributed by hope
