Hope Services Closing Update

Hope Services has been working diligently together with the Ministry of Children and Family Developement (MCFD) towards transferring active client files to the 4 remaining licensed adoption agencies in British Columbia, with the consent of clients.

If you have not provided Hope Services with a written consent for the transfer of your file to another adoption agency your file will have been transferred to MCFD Adoption Services Unit. Once you decide upon a licensed agency, please have that agency request your file from MCFD. If you are still undecided about what direction to take your adoption file in please contact MCFD to discuss your options: 250 387-3660 and view the following link for the contact details of the 4 licensed adoption agencies: http://www.mcf.gov.bc.ca/adoption/licensed_agencies.htm

For over 25 years, Hope Pregnancy & Adoption Services Society has provided services to women and men facing unplanned pregnancies and to those hoping to build their families through adoption. We have weathered many low financial times before, but are now unable to meet our financial obligations. We were in discussions with another larger organization to see if they could provide an umbrella under which we could continue, but that was not to be.

3rd Annual Retreat for Parents of People with FASD

You are invited to our third annual parent retreat for adoptive parents of children, youth, or adults who are suspected of having or have been diagnosed with a Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). As a parent-led organization, we know the importance for parents to have a chance to come together with those who understand and care.This retreat is planned to provide
opportunities to share stories of challenges and triumphs, to listen and to learn, and to enjoy time away. Most important, though, is the chance to develop friendships and support. We hope that you will find a way to join us at this retreat planned just for you. While we realize that finding child care can be difficult, the event is for adults only.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS REPORT ETHIOPIA TRIP MARCH 2011

As the airplane continues its rush down the runway, after touching down in Toronto, it seems symbolic of how I feel in the need to hit the ground running. There is no doubt about how much is still to be accomplished in the Imagine Adoption Ethiopian program. This report will provide some of the highlights of my recent trip to Ethiopia.
